Alcoa Wheels Joins Carroll Shelby to Celebrate his 85th Birthday
January 11, 2008 Las Vegas, NV (January 11, 2008) – Carroll Shelby, a legend in the motor sports arena, today celebrated his 85th birthday during a weekend-long celebration of man and machinery. Nearly 150 Shelby vehicle owners departed this morning from the Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, California, to convoy in the “Shelby Run” to Shelby Headquarters in Las Vegas, Nevada. Arriving this afternoon at Shelby Headquarters, they were greeted by additional owners to form a group of nearly 500 Shelby enthusiasts anticipating a weekend full of festivities at the Shelby factory and shop as well as racing events held at nearby Las Vegas Speedway. Attendees and press members were entertained by stories from celebrities and long-time friends of Carroll Shelby as they reminisced and celebrated Mr. Shelby’s 85th birthday. Shelby factory and museum tours were also available. The historical stories and tours of the museum blended with tours of the sparkling new Shelby factory to illustrate the impact that Carroll Shelby has had on the automotive landscape.
