Announces Product Line Expansion Dura-Bright® and Dura-Flange® Combined in DD Wheels May 23, 2008 CLEVELAND, OHIO (May 23, 2008) - Alcoa Wheel and Transportation Products is pleased to announce an expansion to the line of forged aluminum wheels for trucks, trailers, buses and transit service vehicles. Alcoa Dura-Bright®/Dura-Flange® (DD) wheels now offers five part groups, for a total of thirteen part numbers available as DD wheels. This specialty category of wheels features the combined treatments of Dura-Bright® with XBR™ technology and Dura-Flange® rim protection on the same wheel. Due to customer demand, the product line has expanded from two part groups to now include four part groups, including brush and polished finishes. DD wheels never need polishing and clean with just soap and water for a long-lasting, beautiful shine and ease of maintenance. This patented surface treatment will not chip, crack or peel and prevents filiform corrosion and discoloring, even with exposure to oxygen, humidity, moisture and corrosive compounds, such as road deicing chemicals. In addition, this same wheel is processed with a proprietary treatment on the wheel rim area to provide wear resistance against tire wall flexing, significantly extending wheel service life. The Dura-Flange® wear protection reinforces the wheel bead area and prevents rim flange wear common with stop and go, high center of gravity, and heavy load applications typical in mass transit service vehicles and liquid tankers. With the combined options of Dura-Bright® and Dura-Flange®, fleets can maximize service life and performance, and also save significant time in care and maintenance.
